Our Story

No More Knots is Australia’s largest clinic of its kind and was first formed in 1998 by former athlete and entrepreneur, Kelly Townsend.

The original No More Knots started with just 4 small rooms under Kelly’s own house, and a team of just three enthusiastic therapists, keen to make a difference. The business flourished due to high quality consistent service, high demand and the ever growing team moved to a larger, purpose built building in the Southside Brisbane suburb of Greenslopes where it continued to grow.

In early 2011, No More Knots opened its doors to the public in a second location in Taringa, to meet the growing demand for exceptional treatment, in the Western suburbs of Brisbane. Then in early 2017 we opened our newest clinic in Newmarket in response to years of requests from our northside clients. Between the three clinics, No More Knots is home to over 45 tertiary qualified therapists who specialise in Remedial Massage and Myotherapy and are supported by a wonderful administrative and management team of fifteen!

After building the business over 14 years, Kelly moved sideways to begin the wonderful journey of building a family. In 2012, she welcomed Charlie as the first smallest member of the No More Knots team into the world. More recently, in June 2017, Kelly has now also welcomed little Alex into the pretzel family. This important transition was made possible after Kristy Donoghue became Kelly’s business partner, and General Manager of No More Knots. Kelly and Kristy have been friends since primary school, at the age of 4, so it is with this strong history of friendship, and a raw understanding of each others strengths and weaknesses that they moved the business into the next phase, with Kristy at the helm.

Kristy brings a wealth of management experience to No More Knots. Her background as Tour Manager for Contiki and Trafalgar for approximately 8 years, and 4 years in a management role with Nestle has meant that her communication skills and people management are second to none. Kristy has a wonderful ability to nurture and develop the skills of those around her, she places a very high regard for treating others as she would like to be treated and endeavours to encourage each member of the team at No More Knots, to be the best version of themselves that they can be. Her laugh can be heard throughout the clinic, helping to make it a pleasure to work.

Today the whole team at No More Knots is privileged to treat over 700 clients each week, with a fabulous mix of office workers, tradespeople, weekend warriors to elite athletes; all sharing the common goal of receiving outstanding treatment tailored specifically to meet their individual needs. As a result, it has quickly built a reputation for outstanding service at all levels of the business, and has become the most well renowned clinic of its kind.

Our Vision

OUR SHARED VISION WAS CREATED BY THE ENTIRE TEAM AT NO MORE KNOTS INVOLVING NONE OF THE MANAGEMENT TEAM.  THE DAY WAS FUN, INTERACTIVE AND AN EXTREMELY POSITIVE USE OF OUR TIME.  THE PROCESS TOOK SEVERAL HOURS AND WAS FACILITATED BY JOHN EDWARDS, OUR AMAZING BUSINESS COACH!

At no more knots we each try to be the person we would like to meet when we arrive to work. We build strong long-term relationships with our clients and with our colleagues. Our clients are valued and welcomed. They receive treatments tailored to their needs, goals, comfort and desired outcomes. We educate our clients in ways that help them long-term. They are included in the progress and outcomes of their treatment plan. We provide an environment where each client is safe, relaxed, comfortable and prioritised.

Our positive culture promotes a healthy work/life balance, and we help each other in whatever way that we can. There is a transparency and open dialogue between all of us. This helps us to be more effective and positive in understanding our individual roles and responsibilities. We respect each other’s decisions and life choices. Together we are committed to achieving excellence and consistency in client treatments. We share effective interpersonal skills and have a strong sense of empathy for our clients. They know that we go the extra mile for them.

The team at no more knots are knowledgeable, confident, personable and honest. There is value in every treatment. We are committed to ongoing learning and we keep up-to-date. Each of us welcomes regular feedback through check-ins with therapists, receptionists and management to review how we feel we are going. Similarly we keep our clients updated on their goals and progress through regular reviews. We understand their goals and help them redefine into the longer term.

We donate and volunteer our time and skills to worthy causes. We take our services out to members of the community who would not ordinarily access what we do here at the clinic. Our business supports volunteering by our team in areas of interest/

What Makes Us Different?

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING

    At No More Knots, we are committed to ongoing and consistent Professional Development and up-skilling for all of our contractors and staff. We recognise the importance of staying up-to-date with industry developments and ensuring that our collective skill-set is always increasing so that we can provide the best possible care for our clients.

    Therapists at No More Knots currently have the choice to participate in monthly tutorials presented by industry experts in their fields, including Physiotherapists, Osteopaths and Chiropractors.

    We also employ a full-time Senior Myotherapist who is dedicated to weekly ongoing therapist development in small group workshops, covering all aspects of the remedial therapy and MYO technical skill set.

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE

    Alongside exceptional hands-on treatment, No More Knots is passionate about providing clients with outstanding customer service. We recognize the importance of collecting feedback from our clients and using this information to better our clinic and the people working in it. To keep a constant eye on how we are tracking, we provide all new clients with the opportunity to give us feedback via an email linked with an online feedback survey. Additionally, we encourage feedback from all clients and provide opportunities for this via in-clinic surveys, as well as on our website. To maintain the high level of efficient and friendly service our clients receive from our reception staff, No More Knots also holds regular training workshops in customer service.

  • FACILITIES

    No More Knots currently boasts three large clinics which combined, can accommodate up to 35 clients at once. Our clinics are located in very accessible areas of Greenslopes, Taringa and Newmarket, allowing us to cater for clients across an expansive geographic footprint.

    All treatment rooms at No More Knots are fit out with Athlegen and Ausmedic electric massage tables and we use only the best treatment aides available on the market.

  • FACILITIES

    Like any successful business, No More Knots is built on relationships; amongst our contractors, with our referral partners, and most importantly, with our clients.

    Some of the initiatives we have established to build and maintain these relationships include:

    • The creation of a Shared Vision which details the kind of business we strive to be and the culture we wish to create (see NMK Shared Vision).
    • Rewards system for all NMK team members to ensure we are recognizing the amazing qualities, deeds and results achieved within our team every day.
    • Building strong networks and fostering open communication with other health professionals (both within our Referral Network and also outside it) who assist our clients.

    We will never stop challenging ourselves or taking on board feedback from our clients, staff and industry contacts. We feel it is this input, combined with our ideas, that makes us who we are and so good at what we do!

WHO GIVES A CRAP

Who Gives A Crap toilet paper is made from environmentally friendly materials and 50% of their profits are donated to help build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world!

What began as a crowd funding campaign has transformed into a company with a vision we love, and are so proud to be supporting.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

In 2012, No More Knots participated in a number of community ‘green’ initiative meetings through Climate Smart, and sought the advice of green experts about some changes we could make to help reduce our carbon footprint.
